There are many factors affecting our planet right now including heating/cooling, solar effects, extrasolar effects, magnetic fields. Gravitational influences, cosmic rays, lunar tidal forces etc..
Is it a coincidence that the frequency, magnitude and Eastward trend of the oscillations along the New Madrid fault seem to link up with the solar cycle?
The Sun is the heart of the tiny bubble that we call our solar system and pulses in much the same manner as a human heart. It literally sustains our lives. The Sun affects nearly every single process on Earth and our neighbours.
The crust of our Earth seems to pulse with the beat of our Sun just as our skin can relax or tense up according to the amount of blood flow delivered by the human cardiac system.
The human heart rate is never "constant" and varies, much as in the same manner as the solar cycle. Scientific studies have shown that the life cycles of certain organisms on Earth seem to match larger patterns in the solar cycle.
The debate regarding extreme weather events such as tornadoes, hurricanes, earthquakes or larger climatological issues like global warming or mini ice ages and other processes on Earth being directly related to extrasolar/solar/heliospheric forcing remains an issue of crazy controversy.
A seismologist can keep watching a monitor, but he's never gonna *really* be sure what will happen next. He can have an idea of a general trend much as a nurse can interpret an EKG and get a general idea of if a patient is in cardiac distress or not ...
Right now the all of the monitors (Earth, Sun, space, other planets, etc) show hightened activity across the board.
We've added commenting functionality until we bridge the new board system, too.
Hey everyone I'm pleased to present the remastered first episode of our interview with Chris2191970 here: solarimg_chris.mp3
In this interview Chris covers the cosmic ray factor, we discuss SC 24 in comparison to other cycles, the sea ice, sea surface temperatures - and much more.
Don't forget to take a look at the treasure trove of data he left behind @ http://chris2191970.info
Also, came across this image today - incredible! Apparently caused by a Camera read-out error.
Not allowed outta the house after 7pm unless it's for work/school purposes, and no where alcohol is dispensed until my trial. :(
The SOHO satellite caught this image today - intense! After the "great filament" that was spotted recently, here comes a crazy wave of plasma along the solar surface. We're keeping our eyes on this area.
"The Murchison meteorite landed in a town of that name in Australia in 1969. It has been examined before by scientists looking for specific compounds but this is the first non-targeted analysis and has confirmed a huge variety of carbon-based chemicals.
A study using high resolution analytical tools including spectroscopy allowed the team to identify 14,000 different compounds including 70 amino acids in a sample of the meteorite."
